Here are some of the details you might want to know about:
Training and Qualifications
Whenever you see a counsellor or psychotherapist, you need to make sure they are properly qualified, as well as someone you get on with. These are my qualifications :
And in the organisational world :
I have a lot of training and experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist, and have been working in this way since 1993. I have also been a tutor on the Open University Degree in Counselling course and I run short workshops for existing counsellors, as well as having written and run CPCAB Diploma courses for people qualifying as counsellors.
The way I work
Counselling and therapy help you to see the patterns of behaviour that cause you problems; this may involve looking to family relationships, past and present. I am trained in Gestalt therapy which means I do not interpret what you’ve been through, but help you make your own sense and meaning from it. I work in a creative, holistic way, so if – for example – it would help you to draw your experience instead of putting it into words, I can help you with that. I also am trained in body-mind psychology, and believe that a lot of wisdom is held in our bodies which we can access to help us.
Finally I bring a spiritual and transpersonal perspective which can be helpful in times of crisis and change.
